What is the working principle of planetary ball mill?
Oct 10, 2025
The working principle of a planetary ball mill is based on high-energy impact and friction.
It features grinding jars that rotate around a central axis (like planets around the sun) while simultaneously spinning on their own axes.
This dual rotation generates strong centrifugal forces. The grinding balls inside the jars are first pinned to the jar wall and then launched across the jar, violently impacting the powder on the opposite side. This repeated impact and friction between the balls and the powder quickly reduces the particle size to a very fine or even nano-scale.
In short: A planetary motion creates high-energy ball impacts for efficient grinding.
