Description

0.4L Benchtop Planetary Ball Mill

Working Principle & Core Advantages

Principle: The mill features grinding jars that rotate around a central axis ("sun wheel") while simultaneously rotating on their own axis in the opposite direction. This dual planetary motion generates strong Coriolis and centrifugal forces, leading to high-energy impact and shear between the grinding balls and the sample material.

Key Advantage: This mechanism provides significantly higher energy density than conventional ball mills, enabling nanoscale grinding, mechanical alloying, and perfect homogenization.

Simple Operation Procedure (3-Step Workflow)

Operating the 0.4L mill is straightforward:

Step 1: Preparation & Loading

Select the appropriate jar and grinding balls (material and size).

Fill the jar with your sample and balls. Do not exceed 1/3 of the jar's total volume (including balls and material).

For wet grinding, add an appropriate grinding aid (e.g., ethanol, water) to just cover the sample.

Securely fasten the lid and clamp the jar(s) symmetrically onto the sun disk.

Step 2: Setting Parameters & Running

Set the grinding time on the digital timer.

Set the desired rotation speed. Start at a medium speed (~800 rpm) for new materials.

Close the safety cover and start the machine.

The mill will run automatically and stop when the time elapses.

Step 3: Unloading & Cleaning

Allow the jar to cool if it's warm.

Carefully open the lid and separate the grinding balls from the powder using a sieve.

Clean the jar and balls immediately with a suitable solvent (e.g., ethanol in an ultrasonic cleaner) to prevent cross-contamination.
